Saint Louis (MO) to Clinton (OK)

We survived!!! :)
The trip from Saint Louis to Lebanon went very well. We met an old volunteer working at the Route 66 State Park (former Times Beach) who was stationed near Nancy in the early sixties and who took several trips to Luxembourg. He remembered it well and said what a lovely country we have. Makes a change from the standard "Oh, Luxembourg..." and no-idea-what-that-is-face :)

In Eureka, we visited the Black Madonna Shrine, built by a Polish monk in the 1960s. Christine liked the calm atmosphere, Patrick didn't like the kitsch...so we left...(Christine was driving on the new car...aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhh:)).

Next Stop was at Arlington, a ghost town which was shut down because of the construction of the Interstate 44...There happened something strange with our camera...a REAL ghost town?? see for yourself...

But we did manage to arrive safely in Lebanon where we were met by the very friendly and very old Ramona, keeper of the Munger Moss motel. To stay with the Kitsch-Leitmotiv, look at the bed cover on the picture :)

After our good intention of visiting Springfield, Missouri, got swept away by rain, we had lunch at Steak'n Shake and continued our journey through Carthage (we saw the still opertating 66 Drive-in Theater under the pouring rain) to Tulsa, but we didn't see the bloody Blue Whale in Catoosa!!!!

Today we drove to Oklahoma city in the rain...AGAIN... and went straight to the Cowboy Western Museum...Yeehaw!!!We even watched a sample from a Western starring Ronald Reagan. After driving through the prairie and the farmlands, we got to Clinton, just not in time to visite the Route 66 Museum...so that's for tomorrow.

Texas tomorrow...and hopefully no tornados on "Tornado Alley" :)

P.S. PIgasus says hello...right, Charlotte?

P.P.S. Merci Philippe Hanck fir deng Membership:)
